Jim Clark was the district science coordinator for San Lorenzo Unified School District in California where he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). He taught biology, AP biology and honors anatomy and physiology at Arroyo High School in the San Lorenzo Unified School District for 32 years. Jim also served as curriculum and classroom specialist for the Knowles Science Teachers’ Foundation. Jim is currently a lead writer for CA state NGSS roll outs. He is also working with Howard Hughes Medical Institute on curriculum development and delivering professional development workshops.
Among many other achievements, Jim has received international recognition for his work around growth mindset and classroom culture through KQED Mindshift. Jim provides professional development, instructional coaching and keynote speeches across the country. He is the founder of Next Generation Science Innovations (NGSI) a partnership designed to provide professional development to school districts as they move toward full implementation of the NGSS. NGSI has been recognized for its work in science content, equitable teaching and grading strategies.
