Curriculum innovation: you learn the work by doing the work!

So many conversations throughout my 25 years in education have been about the need for schools to transform, or reimagine their curriculum to meet the needs of an ever-changing world. But it’s not easy. In fact, it can be infuriatingly difficult. I know this because I’ve spent my whole career trying to move things along, to try and move the dial as it were. Sometimes it’s worked. But more often than not, courageous curriculum innovation work has been thwarted (rightly or wrongly) by the forces of pragmatism or conservatism and ended up in the hard bucket.

In this session I would like to share some vignettes from my curriculum work, and also some of the lessons I have learned from my successes and failures. I haven’t given up yet, and I hope you haven’t either!
