Meet the speakers

Maria Sayyed
Raffles World Academy

Maria has worked in education for 18 years. She is Head of the Business Department at Raffles World Academy, where she also teaches IBDP Economics and Business Management.

Rodrigo Telles
The KAUST School

Rodrigo has been an international teacher for 15 years. He is also a lead examiner for the IBDP, supporting examiners and chief examiners with mark schemes and assessment notes.

Brian Cleary
Deira International School

Brian is Head of IB at Deira International School, having spent ten years in education in the UAE. He holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of London.

Sofie Muchardt Smith
Dubai American Academy

With 20 years of experience in international schools, Sofie has worked in Sweden, Brazil, Spain and Costa Rica. She currently teaches History at GEMS Dubai American Academy.

Alexander Gray
Dubai British School

Alex is Head of Science at Dubai British School. He has an MA in Education and his primary field of interest is developing teachers and educational leadership.

Matthew Broderick
Repton Dubai School

Matthew Broderick is Head of Year 7 and a Biology teacher at Repton Dubai School. He has authored over 20 books, including some Kognity subjects.

Laurence Myers
American School Dubai

Laurence Myers is the K-12 Service Learning Coordinator at the American School of Dubai. He leads the Change-maker Education program, an ever-evolving initiative to cultivate global citizens and a school-wide sustainability ethos.

Sandra Carden
American School Dubai

Sandra is the Edible Education Coordinator at the American School of Dubai where she oversees our Edible Education program which focuses on global issues with food at its center.
